Losing teeth at any stage of your life, believe it or not, it is a significant change, and it comes with major challenges. Losing teeth affects confidence, speaking, ability to eat, and how we socialise.
Immediate dentures, also known as same-day dentures or instant dentures or otherwise false teeth, are designed to replace missing teeth immediately after extraction. Therefore, you never have to go without a smile. Immediate dentures are prepared well in advance and inserted directly after your teeth are removed, so you can speak and smile as if nothing had happened. You come to see us with your old teeth and leave with your new teeth in approximately 1 hour.
There are two different types of immediate dentures: immediate partial dentures and immediate full dentures.
Immediate partial dentures, also known as instant dentures, are used when only a few teeth need to be extracted and replaced. These dentures fit around your remaining natural teeth and help maintain chewing and appearance while your gums heal.
Patients often choose immediate temporary dentures when they still have healthy teeth remaining but need a fast replacement for damaged or missing teeth.
Immediate complete denture solutions are designed for patients who require the removal of all upper or lower teeth. Full immediate dentures before and after treatment can dramatically improve appearance and oral function.
These dentures are inserted immediately after full mouth extraction, allowing patients to leave the clinic with a complete smile the same day. Immediate dentures after full mouth extraction also help protect the gums and reduce bleeding during healing.
Immediate dentures are also known as same-day teeth. Choosing dentures in one day is an advantage for patients who need to have their front teeth or all their teeth taken out. They offer an immediate smile solution at a more cost-effective price compared to full-arch same-day teeth
The process of immediate dentures starts with giving us a call and booking an appointment for consultation, or book online here.
During this visit, we will assess teeth, gums, and bone, take X-rays and clinical photos to plan your treatment
Before teeth are taken out, we would scan your mouth with an intraoral scanner or take impressions and send the data to the lab together with clinical pictures for the lab to enable you to plan your immediate dentures as close to nature as possible and allow them to have a natural appearance.
On the day of treatment, your dentist would remove the necessary failing teeth and fit the denture straight away.
As the gums heal and shrink, adjustments are usually needed to improve comfort and fit. Your dentist may recommend relining or replacing the dentures at a later stage, around 3, 6 or 9 months later.
Always follow the cleaning instructions provided by your dentist.
Good healing depends on following the immediate denture instructions carefully.

Immediate dentures after extractions are intended as interim dentures until the permanent dentures are fitted. However, sometimes dentures fit pretty well and can last longer than usual. But still, immediate dentures are not intended to last as long as permanent ones.
Immediate dentures are this kind of denture fitted straight after extraction. You visit the dental practice beforehand when all the clinical records have been taken, and then the lab makes dentures before your teeth are taken out, and they are ready when you come back. After the procedure, you leave with the new teeth and a new smile. Immediate dentures are also known as same-day teeth after extractions. They can also be immediate fixed dentures when implants are being utilized, making them more predictable and more stable.
Immediate dentures are fitted straight after extractions. Also, they are known as dentures in one day, and they will need pain relief and special care, such as a softer diet, painkillers, and taking it easy. As a rule, one week after immediate dentures, it will feel better, and you will get used to them by that time. If not, give it another week. So, 2 weeks after immediate dentures should feel much better and more comfortable. If not, you need to seak advise from your dentist on what to do best.
We do not recommend smoking after immediate dentures or extraction because it affects the healing process and you may develop dry sockets, which will be very painful.
If we compare immediate dentures versus permanent dentures, we will find these differences: immediate dentures are fitted straight after extractions, and they are temporary dentures. Permanent dentures normally follow the immediate dentures as a second part of the treatment because immediate dentures become loose while the gums are healing after the extractions.
If you were asking how long to wear the dentures after extractions, we recommend wearing immediate dentures for 24 hours after extraction and removing them for cleaning only the next day, for cleaning and mouth rinsing. You should put the denture back in your mouth immediately after this and sleep with dentures in for 2 weeks. After this period of time, we recommend taking them out for the night. Also, you should brush your own teeth as normal throughout this time.
Immediate dentures are more interim dentures before you get your final dentures. Therefore, they are not expected to last long. Immediate dentures for a single-tooth extraction may last longer than those after a full-mouth extraction. It varies, and they may last from a few months to several months and will need to be replaced with permanent ones.
Once Immediate dentures after extraction are fitted and immediate denture pain relief is advised by our dentist, you leave with your new smile. Immediate dentures, if done by a high-skilled lab and dentisti they, may look perfect and natural.
